The Kohima Museum

The Kohima Museum

Located at Imphal Barracks, York. Initially, the Kohima Museum in York concentrated almost completely on the British 2nd Infantry Division & its part in the Battle of Kohima. More recently, the scope of the museum was broadened to encompass all of the Burma Campaign of WW2.

The collection commemorates the Battle of Kohima and follows the fortunes of the 2nd Division up to and including its role in crossing the Irrawady. Almost all the objects have been donated by veterans and their relatives making it a very personal collection that sees the battle through the eyes of those who fought it.
