In a unique live event, especially prepared for the Kohima 80th anniversary weekend at the National Army Museum on 20th April 2024, The Viscount Slim & The Hon. Mary Ann Slim, grandchildren of Field Marshal Slim, share their memories of their grandfather in conversation with Dr Robert Lyman.

Dr Robert Lyman - Military Historian, Author and Trustee of KET Born in New Zealand in January 1963 and educated in Australia, Robert Lyman was, for twenty years, an officer in the British Army. Educated at Scotch College, Melbourne he was commissioned into the Light Infantry from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in April 1982. In addition to a business career he is an author and military historian, publishing books in particular on the war in the Far East. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. The Viscount Slim - Mark Slim has spent over 30 years working in the commercial property industry based in the City of London. He is an Executive Director of CBRE and had his own practice for many years. He is also a Non Executive Director of Oakley Properties and Chairman of Trustees for The Burma Star Memorial Fund. Until recently he was a Non Executive Director of Muntons PLC, a position he held for 12 years. He lives on a farm in Dorset with his wife, Hattie and their 3 sons.
The Hon. Mary Ann Slim - Mary Ann Slim began her career working in feature films at Working Title Films before moving into the music industry becoming Global Head of Film & TV at Stage Three Music and Managing Director at BMG Rights Management as part of the Global Management Team. Additionally, she has worked with two high end interior design companies as Director and COO. Currently, Mary Ann is following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather by dedicating her time to being a senior member on the Court of the Clothworkers’ Company in the City.
